Village Hall Summer Consultation
We thank all the residents who took the trouble to contribute to the survey, who attended our open meeting and came to our coffee cart sessions. We were asked if the results of the consultation could be analysed independently and so we asked for an analysis from Alison Driver, a new resident to Church Road. We are very grateful to her for the considerable work she put in.
Alison’s report can be found here
THE CONSULTATION – Results
From the fairly limited sample of Steep households who responded, there were a lot of comments against much change and some concerns about loss of amenity. The numerical responses to each question suggest that there is mixed support. The mean numerical scores for each question were as follows:

1 is not very important, 5 is very important Mean response – 4.2
It is likely that we will end up with a larger plot of land after the Steep in Need land is developed. How important do you think it is that this is a continuous open space?

Do you think an open green space along Church Road would be better for recreation?
1 is disagree, 5 is agree Mean response – 2.8

1 is disagree, 5 is agree Mean response – 3.1
We note some specific concerns about the possible sale of Village Hall land (even though it would not have involved any reduction in public open space). The trustees have no plans at this time to pursue an option which involves a sale of any of its land and will only consider options that they believe improves the amenity for the beneficiaries of the charity.
